Sewell-Thomas Stadium – Home of the Crimson Tide Baseball

Since its beginning in 1892, the University of Alabama’s baseball program has been no stranger to success with nearly 30 conference titles. As part of a redevelopment at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, the university wanted a lighting system that would meet its sustainability goals, while providing spectators a unique experience.With the installation of Musco’s Light-Structure Green™ LED system for the 2016 season, Sewell-Thomas Stadium is the first NCAA baseball stadium to be lit with an LED light source. This innovative system brings many benefits for players, spectators, and fans watching on TV:

• Improves visibility with customized optics and specially aimed fixtures to light the complete trajectory of the ball
• Reduces energy consumption by 53 percent compared to the prior metal halide equipment

Since the system is interfaced with DMX controls, the university is able to provide show-time elements before, during, and after the game with special effects.
