Each year, the world’s elite professional tennis players bring their best to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City for the US Open Tennis Championships. Now, thanks to Musco and its innovative Light-Structure Green™ system with LED light source, those players and fans will enjoy the experience like never before on three of the Center’s competition courts.
Musco’s new LED lighting system includes nearly 300 custom designed luminaires using over 25,000 LEDs. With the new system in place, the top tennis players in the world will enjoy a brighter on-court experience with substantially reduced glare. The USTA also considered the broadcast benefits of the new lighting. With Musco’s system design and broadcast expertise, the system delivers a better broadcast experience for US Open fans watching in the U.S. and around the world.
With the new system in place, the Center will realize a total energy savings of 61 percent when compared to typical floodlighting.
