Chatham County Completes Modernization of Historic Stadium with Musco's TLC for LED® System

Memorial Stadium in Savannah, Georgia, opened in 1957, serving as the football home for all high schools in Chatham County. In 2018, the stadium was demolished and rebuilt as part of a $12 million renovation and modernization project. As part of that project, the County wanted a high-quality light system that could offer several benefits for the schools, fans, and community. Having worked with Musco several times in the past, project leaders turned to a trusted partner and its TLC for LED® solution to help the County continue its rich tradition of high school sports at the new facility.

  • The system prevents glare and light spill from affecting the surrounding community, minimizing the negative impact on the homes to the south of the stadium as well as drivers on nearby Skidaway Rd., Scott Dr., and Varnedoe Dr.
  • The County won’t have to pay for any maintenance to the lighting for 25 years thanks to Musco’s parts and labor warranty, enabling it to redirect those funds to other projects.
  • Players and fans for all of the County’s schools will enjoy superior visibility as a result of the custom optics that achieve desired light levels and unmatched uniformity.
  • Staff can control the lighting instantly with a smart phone, so employees don’t have to go to the stadium late at night to manually turn the lights off, and the Control-Link® control system provides proactive 24/7 scheduling and monitoring support.
